Stellenbosch
This is the centre of the South African wine industry and the second oldest town in the country. The area around Stellenbosch is packed with wine estates and the view is spectacular. Spier Wine Farm is one of the estates that offer different activities and picnic in the garden. Waterkloof Wine estate is another good one that has a very nice restaurant.
Other good estates with better restaurants in the Stellenbosch area are Tokara(good olive oil), Cavalli, Terrior (Kleine Zalze wine estate), Delaire Graff Estate, Muratie, Lanzerac, De Warenmarkt, Overture and Bodega..
Franschhoek
A great small town with many guesthouses and small shops situated close to the mountains. Here they have a quite unique Wine Tram that takes you around the beautiful views of Franschhoek valley and stop at various estates.
Recommended wine farms and restaurants here are:
Le Quartier Français, Mont Rochelle wine farm, Vrede & Lust farm, Reuben´s restaurant, Haute Cabriere, Rupert & Rothchild, The Kitchen at Maison.
Boschendal
Right in the middle of Stellenbosch, Franschhoek and Paarl you find one of the oldest wine estates in Western Cape with beautiful views and good wine. The location is perfect for a picnic lunch in the garden that you order on the estate.
Paarl & Wellington
Under Oaks Wines is a hidden gem in the area. Fantastic views and good pizza mixed with wine tasting. There´s also a estate called Diemersfontein with nice wine. On Fairview you can taste and buy wine, cheese, chocolate, beer and bread.
Spice Route Restaurant and DV Artisan Chocolate is two other good choices to visits.
Robertson
Graham Beck Winery and McGregor is two of the nice wine estates in Robertson and is situated on the famous Route 62.
